Our Story
In the last decade, symptoms of mental health issues have skyrocketed. Depression symptoms have increased by 63%, suicidal thoughts have risen by 47%, and psychological stress has surged by a staggering 71%.
While mental health has slowly become more accepted and understood in our society, this progress needs to accelerate to save lives. Yes, we can save lives. Statistics reveal that suicide is the second leading cause of death in the United States for individuals aged 10 to 34. In 2022, just under 50,000 people chose to end their lives.
Globally, someone commits suicide every 40 seconds. Every 40 seconds, someone’s brother, sister, father, mother, son, daughter, wife, husband, or friend makes the tragic decision to end their life, leaving behind an irreplaceable void.
This is the impact that only a single mental illness has on the world, both profound and heartbreaking.
This is mental health. It’s not just a condition or a phase—it’s a profound struggle, a fight against the mind’s darkest corners. And it’s a battle that deserves understanding, compassion, and awareness.
This is why Weighted was created.
I created Weighted with a vision of revolutionizing society’s view on mental health for the better. Growing up, I witnessed the detrimental effects mental health had on the ones I loved. I saw depression transform people into individuals now unrecognizable as their joy dwindled. I witnessed suicidal thoughts whisper false promises of relief to those who thought they were alone. I observed friends with eating disorders turn nourishment into a battle. I learned that PTSD holds even the bravest warriors hostage in their own minds, forcing them to relive the worst moments of their lives over, and over again. I lived through anxiety. Anxiety that would send my mind spiraling into chaos, making me imagine the worst possible outcomes of every situation.
I believe with Weighted we can create a real positive change around Mental health. I want those who struggle to know they aren’t alone, those who feel alone to know they are loved, and those who have given up a way back home. The designs I create are aimed to spread awareness for all types of mental health. Anxiety, depression, suicide, eating disorders, PTSD, addiction, and much more. Mental health is greater than people realize.
I lived, witnessed, and learned to overcome and manage the effects of mental health, and you can too.
Mental Health matters and deserves to be talked about. #unashamedofmymentalhealth #mentalhealthmatters
